Waitrose trialling collection lockers
As part of their focus on increasing and improving the online-to-customer experience, Waitrose is trialling the use of the temperature controlled collection lockers as an extension of their click-and-collect service.
Focusing on their eCommerce and online platforms has evidently been a key area for Waitrose, with reports that their online sales grew by 50.1% in the first quarter of its financial year.
Whilst this service is only being trialled in the Bracknell head office, the plan is to roll the locker scheme out to other major stores over the next 12 months. So watch out for lockers coming to a store near you.
a new eCommerce platform for Whittards
The tea and coffee manufacturer has recently announced that it is to redesign its website in an attempt to reposition its unique heritage and ultimately drive more online engagement and sales.
Simon Blake, at digital agency 9xb.com, the agency redesigning the Whittards website, commented:
“The new design will have far greater visual impact than the existing one and will incorporate a simpler ordering process to make it quicker and easier for people to buy online. The site is being developed in line with wider marketing activity to raise awareness of Whittards’ expertise as a specialist tea and coffee retailer with modern online shoppers.”
River Island enhances the online experience
River Island has announced it is to run an affiliate programme in order to target the growth of its international online sales.
Via a series of executions aimed at utilising fashion bloggers and experiential events, River Island will aim to leverage online content and reviews in order to encourage engagement and boost online sales.
Partnering with Rakuten Linkshare, the retailer will benefit from a cost-per-acquisition model which “provides the opportunity for huge reach online while still being cost-effective as retailers only pay for sales the programme drives” says Alex Cornford, Director of Sales and Client Development at Rakuten LinkShare.
